Riff merchant

The space, time and mind bender

A riff library and arranger for bands who write in every time signature. Keep every riff you record, find the ones that fit, and try them in order at any tempo, without losing the 7/8 bar that makes it yours.

What it does

Everything runs in your browser, on your phone or laptop. Add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app.

Library

Your riff bank

Drop in recordings and each one becomes a riff, with its tempo, time signature and key worked out for you to check. Tag riffs with the songs they are for and how they sound, from gainy clean to beatdown, then filter to find the one that fits.

Sandbox

Try riffs in any order

Pick a song, drag its riffs into a row and play. Everything runs at one tempo without changing pitch, riffs click together whatever their time signature, and the click follows each riff's own bars.

Timeline

Arrange the song

The same arrangement with more control: layers, tempo changes at any point, loops, ripple delete, and versions of a riff changed just for this song or saved as new variants.

Riff notes

Sketch an idea fast

A drum grid in sixteenths, up to three voice notes recorded over it after a count-in, and a simple mixer. Load your own drum samples for a kit that sounds like yours.

Tab

Learn the part

Write tab for guitars and bass in any tuning, then play it back as notes with a click, slowed right down, looping the bar you are stuck on, with the recording alongside if you want it.

Recording

Hum it in

Put headphones on and record a vocal idea or a rhythm straight onto the arrangement, in time with the song.

Band accounts

Coming soon. For now the app keeps your riffs on your own device, and the Backup button saves them to a file you can move anywhere.
